OZ!
THE MUSICAL
The timeless "Wizard of Oz" tale has been adapted into a dazzling new musical. A cyclone carries Dorothy and Toto to the magical Land of Oz. When Dorothy's house squashes the Wicked Witch of the East, she is ecstatically thanked by the liberated Munchkins and given permission to wear the witch's powerful silver slippers. From there, Baum's lovable characters, rubber-legged Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and Tin Woodsman, join Dorothy on a journey to meet the great Oz. This bright musical is charged with a bundle of new songs and scenes that any Wizard of Oz lover will enjoy. Students of all ages will enjoy being a part of this classic tale that celebrates friendship, dedication, and bravery.

-
There will be lines to memorize. All lines must be learned by THE FIRST DAY OF INTENSIVE, July 15th. If actors fail to meet this requirement, their roles will be recast. If they desire to stay in the production as an ensemble member, they may. If they choose to leave the production, no refund will be given.
-
Attendance is crucial to performance. PLEASE CHECK YOUR CALENDARS BEFORE AUDITIONING. If you need to miss a day or a few hours during the first week of intensive, it is POSSIBLE that the directors can work around this. But you will need to let them know BEFORE auditions.
-
If you are a student with many other time commitments that may interfere with these rehearsals, this will not be a good fit for you.
-
Actors need to be on time for rehearsals and need to stay for the entire rehearsal each week.
-
All actors will be signing a Production Contract if offered a role. Please read the CTA Guidelines to familiarize yourself with our policies. You can find this under the "About Us" tab along with a copy of our production contract.
-
Actors must follow all dress code rules in the CTA Guidelines for each day of rehearsal. You can find these under the About Us tab on our website. We are not lenient in this area.
-
While theatrical experience is not a requirement, a cooperative and directable attitude is. Please read our code of conduct before signing up for auditions.

Paperwork will take around 15 minutes to fill out. Be prepared to list any conflicts you have with the rehearsal schedule AT THIS TIME.

All auditionees will be reading from the script. If an auditionee struggles with cold reading, but has no problem memorizing, email us before auditions to see if we can help them be better prepared: connecttheatreokc@gmail.com
-
All auditionees will also be singing at auditions. They need to prepare a 30 SECOND CUT FROM AN AGE APPROPRIATE SONG. The song lyrics need to be memorized and all auditionees will be singing acapella--no backtrack or accompaniment will be provided.
-
All auditionees must be 8 by audition date of May 23rd.
-
All parents and auditionees need to read the CTA Code of Conduct before auditioning. You can find this under the "About Us" tab. The signature pages will be available at auditions.

-
Our directors are looking for students that can speak loudly and show character on stage. Positive, cooperative, directable attitudes are a must.

You may be cast in a speaking role OR a background/nonspeaking role. All roles are assigned per the director's discretion.

5 DANCERS
These dancers can be any skill/experience level between the ages of 8 and 18. Dancers will be in multiple musical numbers in the show and have a few costume changes. While the dancers will not have lines to memorize, they will need to be comfortable acting and reacting in crowd scenes as background actors.

PRODUCTION TUITION FOR DANCERS: $150 plus $25 enrollment fee

4 EXTRAS/CHORUS
Being a part of our 'chorus' is a fantastic opportunity for kids that would like to be in a play but aren't comfortable with lines or singing alone. They'll get to have all of the fun of being a part of a cast and being on stage, without the responsibility of performing individually. Our chorus members will get the opportunity to be Munchkins and Winged Monkeys in Oz! The Musical. They'll get to be background actors in scenes and sing in musical numbers with the cast. Chorus members will not have to sing by themselves.
Please read through the Code of Conduct and go over the rehearsal schedule listed above before signing up. Chorus members will need to be able to make all rehearsals within the full two weeks of Intensive.
