CHARLOTTE'S WEB
SUMMER PRODUCTION

CW WIDE.png
The Children's Literature Association named this "the best American children's book of the past two hundred years," and Joseph Robinette, working with the advice of E.B. White, has created a play that captures this work in a thrilling and utterly practical theatrical presentation. All the enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be "a true friend and a good writer."  Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the "miracles" of her web in which she writes, "Some pig." It's the beginning of a victorious campaign which ultimately ends with the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte. This is a beautiful, knowing play about friendship that will give actors a great opportunity and an audience an evening of enchantment.

CTA Production Guidelines:

  • There will be lines to memorize. All lines must be learned by THE FIRST DAY OF INTENSIVE, June 19th. If actors fail to meet this requirement, their roles will be recast. If they desire to stay in the production as an ensemble member, they may. If they choose to leave the production, no refund will be given.

  • Attendance is crucial to performance. PLEASE CHECK YOUR CALENDARS BEFORE AUDITIONING. If you need to miss a day or a few hours during the first week of intensive, it is POSSIBLE that the directors can work around this. But you will need to let them know BEFORE auditions.

  • If you are a student with many other time commitments that may interfere with these rehearsals, this will not be a good fit for you.

  • Actors need to be on time for rehearsals and need to stay for the entire rehearsal each week.

  • All actors will be signing a Production Contract if offered a role. Please read the CTA Guidelines to familiarize yourself with our policies. You can find this under the "About Us" tab along with a copy of our production contract.

  • Actors must follow all dress code rules in the CTA Guidelines for each day of rehearsal. We are not lenient in this area.

  • While theatrical experience is not a requirement, a cooperative and directable attitude is. Please read our code of conduct before signing up for auditions.

Paperwork will take around 15 minutes to fill out. Be prepared to list any conflicts you have with the rehearsal schedule AT THIS TIME.

  • All auditionees will be reading from the script. If an auditionee struggles with cold reading, but has no problem memorizing, email us before auditions to see if we can help them be better prepared: connecttheatreokc@gmail.com

  • All auditionees must be 8 by audition date of May 11th.

  • All parents and auditionees need to read the CTA Code of Conduct before auditioning. You can find this under the "About Us" tab. The signature pages will be available at auditions.
  • Auditions will be held at Yukon Church, 11715 NW 10th St. Please enter under the awning on the east side of the church.

  • Our directors are looking for students that can speak loudly and show character on stage. Positive, cooperative, directable attitudes are a must.
  • You may be cast in a speaking role OR a background/nonspeaking role. All roles are assigned per the director's discretion.
  • If you are unable to make auditions, you may audition virtually or via an audition tape (an emailed recorded reading). Email us for more info.
